About the museum
The Stadt- und Turmmuseum has existed since 1981 and is housed in the Hohenfeld Chapel on Am Amthof in Bad Camberg. The chapel was built around 1672 on the orders of Baron Achatius von Hohenfeld from an outbuilding, rebuilt in 1771 by his descendants, and redesigned inside in 1865. The last Mass was held there in 1938.
The collection reflects many facets of the town's history, from early history and prehistory through geological and natural-history pieces to an agricultural and craft exhibition. Objects and documents on town history, local heritage and natural history make the museum a small treasure trove.
The museum is looked after by the Verein Historisches Camberg (Historical Camberg Association), whose museum working group designs the display cases, improves the labels and organizes special events such as the Museumsnacht (museum night) and activities for children. In addition, evening guided tours are offered at regular intervals.
