About the museum

The Heimatverein Michendorf opened its local history museum in 1996 in the building of the old mill on the Wolkenberg. Under the motto "Spurensuche in Michendorf" (Searching for Traces in Michendorf), finds from families, trades, commerce, business and associations are shown across several floors as photos, objects and documents.

On the second floor, the displays cover crafts, trades and local history; on the third floor there is a historic schoolroom and photos of school classes since the 19th century. The fourth floor is devoted to associations, outstanding athletes and artists, as well as the kitchen and household of earlier times. One picture shows the mill around 1931. The museum is run by the Heimatverein für Ortsgeschichte und Denkmalpflege e. V. (local heritage association for town history and heritage conservation) on a volunteer basis and takes part in the International Museum Day.
