Ein Frosch kommt selten allein
Special exhibition of the Dahmelandmuseum Königs Wusterhausen.

Volunteer-run regional museum on the Schlossplatz in Königs Wusterhausen on the history, nature and everyday culture of the Dahmeland.
March 24, 2026 – December 19, 2026
Special exhibition of the Dahmelandmuseum Königs Wusterhausen.
The museum is run by the Heimat- und Museumsverein Königs Wusterhausen 1990 e.V. (local heritage and museum association), which was formed in June 1991 with 18 founding members. Building up its own local history museum quickly became the core of the association's work; the house opened its doors on May 4, 1996. To this day it is run entirely by volunteers.
The building stands on the former manor farm opposite the palace. The original half-timbered building burned down several times; it received its present form in 1869 from the royal court chamber, on the surviving cellar. At first the royal forester lived here; from 1876 the house held a girls' higher school. Later came changing owners, during the GDR era the local office of the state security service (Stasi), and from 1990 to 1995 a library.
After a complete interior renovation, the exhibition was rebuilt in 2006 with a stronger regional focus. Consequently, the house was named Dahmelandmuseum in 2012. The rooms lead from geology and prehistory through old crafts and domestic culture around 1920 to the town history of Königs Wusterhausen and to around 70 places in the former district. There is also a village schoolroom, a gallery under the roof for changing art exhibitions, and a museum yard with historical farm machinery, a forge and a bake house.
