Photo exhibition by Umberto Diecinove at the Heimatmuseum with Museumshof Zingst.
About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Zingst is housed in a former captain's house from the 19th century, which was carefully restored and lies in the middle of the village. The collection shows how people on the Zingst peninsula lived and worked over the centuries. On display are objects from fishing and farming, as well as from the daily life of the villagers.
The house includes a historic museum farmyard of several restored buildings, among them the captain's house itself and a barn. They are furnished with period furniture and equipment and show rural life in earlier times; old farm implements and a cottage garden behind the barn round out the picture. The museum barn also serves as an event venue and as a civil registry office (Standesamt).
On the farmyard, events take place regularly from Easter until Advent: in summer the music pavilion becomes a concert stage, and on Thursdays vendors offer regional products. In the Pommernstube, a creative workshop, visitors make their own souvenirs from beach finds, and there are courses and workshops. A small gallery and the outdoor area show changing art, and a small library holds maritime literature. For schoolchildren there is a museum quiz; guided tours and lecture evenings are also offered.
