About the museum
The Heimatmuseum Spiesen has been housed in the Haus Lion since January 2015, one of the oldest farmhouses in the village. It preserves historical evidence of the history of Spiesen-Elversberg and makes it accessible to the public through documentation.
The exhibits are arranged by theme in display cases and trace the community from its earliest beginnings to the present. Topics include Celtic and Roman prehistory, church history and the village's building development; mining tools form one focus. The display is complemented by a collection of precious stones and minerals and a permanent exhibition on the history of Jewish residents of Spiesen.
