About the museum
The museum goes back to the collection of the Grundl family, which was first shown publicly in their home in 1935. Since 1984 the holdings have been housed in six departments on around 400 square meters in the historic Kastenhaus, which is now used as the Haus des Gastes (guest house).
The route through the museum leads over several floors: the stairwell covers town history, the third floor covers religious folk culture and domestic life, and the attic covers historic crafts. Clothing, costumes and accessories, as well as militaria, are displayed in the sloping roof area. Thematically, the collection ranges from prehistory and early history to the history of the town.
