About the museum
In summer 2001 the Heimatverein Dittmannsdorf took the initiative to make the Alte Schule, a historic building, usable for residents and clubs of the village and to set up a Heimatstube inside it. Through a funded employment measure, two employees were hired to collect old photos, magazines, books, furnishings, and household items.
With donations of goods and money, the room was refurbished in the old style. After about a year of work, the Heimatstube opened to visitors on April 28, 2002. Along with cupboards, chests, and old sewing machines, a detailed, handwritten village chronicle invites browsing.
