About the museum
The Heimatstube Dreetz is housed in a former farmstead and covers the history of the village. An overview of local history stands alongside finds from prehistoric and early historic times.
A large part of the collection consists of everyday objects from the 19th and 20th centuries: utensils and kitchen appliances, electrical and electronic devices, agricultural tools, and craft tools. On view are, for example, tea services, flatirons, old radio and sound equipment, a film projector, typewriters, and a “Wilhelm Pieck” writing desk.
Further sections are devoted to the history of clubs and schools and to Deutsche Sprengchemie Dreetz (explosives chemistry company), supplemented by photo and film documents. The municipality occasionally holds a Heimatstube festival.
