About the museum

The Heimatmuseum of the Flecken (municipality) of Eime was established in the early 1980s on the initiative of the then local heritage officer (Ortsheimatpfleger). Since 1987 the collection rooms have been housed in the old Sonnenberg School on Hauptstraße.

After a comprehensive renovation and redesign of the rooms, the house was closed for a time. Since its reopening on March 2, 2025, it shows its holdings in new exhibition rooms with modern fittings. The aim was to convey the history and culture of Eime more vividly; interactive elements invite visitors of all ages to take part, and the rooms are barrier-free.

The collection includes worthwhile objects from earlier times up to the postwar period, such as documents, pictures, textiles, and medals. A multitouch table makes village history digitally tangible.
