About the museum
Herzogenweiler was re-founded in 1721 by six glassmakers from Altglashütten; in 1880 the glassworks was finally shut down. The local history room in the smallest district of Villingen-Schwenningen commemorates this period.
It was set up in 1978 in a former schoolroom in the town hall and redesigned in 2008. The exhibition covers glass production in the village from the beginning of the 18th to the end of the 19th century. Alongside a selection of Black Forest glassware, documents, maps and pictures show how the glassworks operated and what it produced.
