About the museum

The sculptor Heinrich Kirchner lived in the municipality of Seeon-Seebruck until his death in 1984. Already during his studies he taught himself bronze casting by the lost-wax process. His figures were meant to convey a clear message, so he planned his forms very deliberately and emphasized eyes or gestures where this was needed for the effect. His large sculptures stand at various places in the municipality.

The gallery in the House of Culture and Heritage in Seebruck reopened in 2024. It shows large sculptures, portrait busts, small models and drawings, and multimedia elements tell of the life and work of the professor. Some of the exhibits belong to the municipality; others were made available by the artist's granddaughters. The exhibits are labeled in Braille, and the access is step-free.

The building also houses a permanent exhibition on the estate of the amateur archaeologist and photographer Carl Ostermayer ("Scherben-Kare"), the Seebrucker Treff-Punkt (meeting point) and the municipal archive.
