About the museum
The former Denglhamerhof in Chieming was built in 1823. The Freundeskreis Heimathaus Chieming (Friends of the Heimathaus Chieming) saved the property from demolition and restored it; since then, the rooms have been run as a local heritage house with a museum. The Haus des Gastes (guest house) with the tourist information office is housed in the former barn, and the former vaulted stable has become an event hall.
The exhibition shows past life and work on the farm: an original farmhouse parlor with wood paneling and a chair stove, sleeping rooms with farmhouse cupboards, a farmhand's room, equipment for processing milk, and the collection "Vom Flachs zum Leinen" (From Flax to Linen). There is also crockery from the last master potter and pilgrimage souvenirs.
In four wall niches of the vaulted hall, exhibits on early history are displayed, including Roman brooches, coins, and pottery, as well as finds from an archaeological dig at Stöttham in 2008. They document settlement from the Celtic to the Roman period.
