About the museum
The Hohner Dorfmuseum is housed in the old railway station of Hohn, right on the route of the former Rendsburg–Husum railway line, which now serves as a cycling and hiking trail. Room by room, it shows how people in the village and surrounding area lived and worked more than a hundred years ago.
All exhibits were donated by citizens of Hohn. On display are tools and implements, handicrafts such as white-work embroidery, porcelain and old documents. An extensive database reaches back to the settlers of the 18th century and makes genealogy research possible at the museum.
A second exhibition in the same building covers topics around the Hohner See lake. A stone baking oven (Backhuus) is also being built at the museum, where bread and cakes will be baked under the guidance of experienced bakers.
