About the museum
The house at Marktstraße 2 is a 16th-century Renaissance half-timbered building that is part of the UNESCO World Heritage old town of Quedlinburg. Michael Arendt is considered the builder; there are differing accounts of the exact construction period. Between 1976 and 1977 the house was comprehensively renovated by Polish restoration workshops.
During the GDR era, the Kulturbund set up an art gallery on the ground floor. That is where the name Kunsthoken comes from.
Today the house is home to a gallery run by the Kultur- und Kunstverein Quedlinburg, which presents art.
