Mitteldeutsches Eisenbahn- und Spielzeugmuseum
Private museum in Quedlinburg's old town with historic model railways, running layouts, and a large collection of dolls and toys.
About the museum
The Mitteldeutsches Eisenbahn- und Spielzeugmuseum is a privately run museum on Blasiistraße in Quedlinburg's old town. It goes back to private collectors who combined their holdings and made them accessible to the public; the model railway section comes from the Jürgens collection.
According to the tourism portal, more than 5,000 objects are spread over more than 500 square meters. At the center is a historic model railway collection in gauges I, 0, S, TT, and H0, with early floor-runner trains, stations, lamps, and accessories, mostly by Märklin but also by foreign manufacturers, including a rare Russian wide-gauge railway. A display room is furnished like the room of a railway collector, and five model railway layouts start moving at the push of a button.
The upper floor displays general toys from the operator's collection: dolls including many rarities, dollhouses, toy shops, tin toys, steam engines, board games, children's books, and farms.
