About the museum
The Flossenbürg Concentration Camp Memorial commemorates the Flossenbürg concentration camp and its subcamps, where people from all over Europe were held prisoner from 1938 to 1945. It is run by the Stiftung Bayerische Gedenkstätten (Bavarian Memorials Foundation). The site is also a cemetery, so special consideration is due to the rest of the dead and to relatives.
The permanent exhibition "Konzentrationslager Flossenbürg 1938–1945" documents the history of the camp and its subcamps and puts the prisoners at the center. The second exhibition, "was bleibt", addresses the lasting effects of the camp. The documentation site Hersbruck/Happurg commemorates the second-largest subcamp.
The Bildungszentrum (education center) offers seminars and tours; an archive and the online Totenbuch (book of the dead) support research. The education center also houses an inclusively run museum café.
