About the museum
The Aschingerhaus is an approximately 250-year-old half-timbered house under monument protection. It is the birthplace of August Aschinger, the first honorary citizen of Oberderdingen, who left it to the town as a sign of his attachment.
Today the building houses a museum and a gallery. The permanent exhibition in the museum is dedicated to the three honorary citizens August Aschinger (1862–1911), Heinrich Blanc (1896–1960) and Karl Fischer (1893–1985), whose life paths are closely tied to the economic development of the town. Aschinger built up a catering company from Berlin that around 1900 was among the largest in Europe. In 1925 Blanc laid the foundation for the BLANCO brand with a metalware factory; Fischer founded the company from which E.G.O. emerged.
Using modern media technology, the exhibition shows how these companies developed from their beginnings to the present. In the former barn of the property, the gallery presents changing art exhibitions.
