About the museum
The fire brigade museum of the Heiligenhaus Volunteer Fire Brigade belongs to the MuseumsLandschaft Abtsküche and is housed in a former school on Abtskücher Straße. Covering more than 1,200 square meters, it documents the technical development of firefighting from its beginnings to the present.
On display are, among other things, leather helmets, fire buckets, hand-operated and motor-driven fire pumps, fire beaters and extinguishers, as well as breathing apparatus and communications equipment. Uniforms, medals and awards, and items from the former GDR and neighboring countries complete the collection. In the nearby museum barn are largely operational vintage fire engines, which show seven decades of vehicle development.
