About the museum
Since 1907, the city museum has been housed in Burgau Castle. Originally, it was meant to serve the honour and fame of the town. Today, it shows the over 850-year history of Burgau on two floors and more than 700 square metres of exhibition space.
The display ranges from the Middle Ages to the most recent past. The focus is on the development of the former margraviate town and on the life of people in a small town over roughly the last 200 years. The series "Objekt des Monats" highlights one item from the collection each time, with a current connection or a link to the town's history. The museum also offers museum-education programmes and themed tours.
