About the museum

The Traktorenmuseum in the wine village of Oberhausen an der Nahe houses about 30 tractors from the years 1916 to 1960, all lovingly restored. Many of the vehicles came straight from the field to the museum.

Among the most striking pieces is a 1929 Lanz Bulldog built by Heinrich Lanz in Mannheim, equipped with wide bog tires, which is three meters wide and was used in the Emsland to convert moorland into farmland. Its hot-bulb engine with 10.3 liters of displacement had to be preheated with a blowtorch before starting and was then cranked by hand, using the steering wheel attached as a crank.

The oldest model dates from 1916, was still driven by a chain, and was among the first tractors with an internal combustion engine, which displaced the steam engine. A tractor from the Zettelmeier manufacturer in Konz with a 1941 Deutz engine was even in use in the field until 1992.
