About the museum
The museum "Schau mal rein" is the private collection of Walter Streblow, a trained carpenter and town chronicler of Lindow (Mark). He opened it in 1978, after several years of collecting; the first finds came from his own house.
In the attic of the house on Mittelstraße, the collection displays objects that were part of everyday life 100, 200 or even 300 years ago and later fell into oblivion. Streblow places particular value on exhibits that hardly anyone knows any more, such as a Kartenpresse (card press), a Kaldaunenspreize or a Puppenbrett. The house explicitly sees itself as a hands-on museum: visitors, especially children and young people, may pick things up and try them out.
The founder knows Lindow's town history well and answers visitors' questions himself. The small house is open on Sunday mornings and by request.
