About the museum
The Niederlausitzer Sorbisches Museumsdorf Bloischdorf (Lower Lusatian Sorbian Museum Village) is run by the association of the same name. Its house is the museum barn, a historic brick building from the late 19th century, which was thoroughly renovated from 2002 and converted into an exhibition and event venue.
The focus is on the life and culture of the rural, mainly Sorbian population of Lower Lusatia from the 18th to the 20th century: rural customs, agriculture, historic farm technology, living and working. Changing special exhibitions by regional artists and collectors complement the collection.
The association sees the museum as an active place to experience: there are project days on bread baking in the bakehouse, "Vom Korn zum Brot" (From Grain to Bread) days and Sorbian Easter egg painting, as well as concerts, readings and cabaret in the museum barn. For children, the house spirit Kobi leads through the museum.
