Oberneulander Mühle
Gallery-type Dutch windmill from 1848 in Bremen-Oberneuland, a branch of the Focke-Museum with the exhibition "Vom Korn zum Brot" (From Grain to Bread).
About the museum
In 1614 the first grain windmill in Bremen's rural territory was built on the site of today's mill: a post mill, whose entire body had to be turned to face the wind. After it burned down in 1840, the present building was erected in 1848 as a Dutch-type mill, in which only the cap turns with the wind.
The mill is a gallery Dutch mill on a three-story octagonal base, with four shuttered sails and automatic wind-direction tracking. It was operated commercially in the 20th century before being donated to the city of Bremen in 1964 and restored. A listed monument, it is considered fully functional and is a landmark of the Oberneuland district; it is also a stop on the Niedersächsische Mühlenstraße (Lower Saxony Mill Route).
Since around 1970 the Focke-Museum, Bremen's state museum of art and cultural history, has used the mill as a branch site. The exhibition "Vom Korn zum Brot" shows how grain was once ground into flour using wind power and then made into bread. Especially impressive is the originally preserved stone floor, from which the view reaches all the way up into the mill's cap.

Getting there & parking
By public transit
Bahnhof Oberneuland · 400 m
Streetcar 4 toward Lilienthal to "Vorstraße," then bus 33 or 34 to "Bahnhof Oberneuland"; alternatively, regional train from the main station to Bahnhof Oberneuland. Because of the new tunnel construction at the station, there is currently a pedestrian detour (about 5–10 minutes longer).
By car via the A27, exit Bremen-Vahr, follow the access road outbound toward Oberneuland; turn right at the end, and the mill is then on your left.
