About the museum

The Pumuckl Museum in the Bartlmämühle in Ohlstadt opened on October 15, 2005. Its founder is master carpenter Armin Krattenmacher, a passionate collector and Pumuckl fan who wanted to give the red kobold a home. The idea arose in June 2005; for this he obtained the consent of author Ellis Kaut and of Barbara von Johnson, the people most important to him in connection with Pumuckl.

The museum is located on the first floor of his carpentry business and in a caravan. On display are fan merchandise, books and other products about the kobold, along with a carpentry workshop where children can tinker, and information about the stories and the actors in the TV series.

Occasions such as the museum's birthday in the autumn bring fans together; most recently, an exhibition showed the character's development from the first sketch, through book illustrations and record sleeves, to today's interpretation.
