About the museum

The Rieden Doll Museum is housed in a historic farmhouse which, according to an inscription on the gate, dates from 1827. It belongs to the Eichenhof in Rieden am Forggensee and is part of the Museumsverbund Auerbergland (Auerbergland museum network).

The collection comprises more than 600 items, including collectors' pieces, unique pieces, portrait dolls and antique dolls, as well as teddy bears, marionettes, theater puppets, dollhouses and plenty of accessories.

The house itself shapes the character of the museum: the low, dark room with a fine wooden ceiling is furnished with antique sofas, chairs, sideboards and chests, old children's chairs and doll carriages from the 19th and 20th centuries, including a sport-style pram from 1840.
