Ramones-Museum Berlin
The world's first museum devoted to the punk band the Ramones, with more than 1,000 pieces of memorabilia; currently closed while it moves to a new location in Berlin.
About the museum
The Ramones Museum was founded by Florian “Flo” Hayler, who spent years collecting memorabilia of the New York punk band and initially kept it in his apartment. On September 15, 2005, it opened in a basement in Kreuzberg as the first museum in the world dedicated solely to the Ramones. The Berlin connection is no coincidence: bassist Dee Dee Ramone spent part of his youth in Germany.
After a rent increase, the museum moved in 2008 to Krausnickstraße in Mitte, where, together with Café Mania, it also served as a meeting place and concert venue for punk and alternative bands; from 2014 it also released its own records there. In 2017 it moved to Oberbaumstraße near Schlesisches Tor. The COVID-19 pandemic hit the museum hard, and it had to close at the end of 2020. In 2024 it made a comeback in the bar “19:77” on Weserstraße in Neukölln, where the collection hung between the bar and a vegan diner.
According to the museum, the collection comprises more than 1,000 original objects from the band's history between 1974 and 1996: stage clothing, signed posters, setlists, tickets, records, unpublished photos, and personal belongings of the band members. The museum has since left the Neukölln location as well; a new, larger venue with additional video and interview content is in preparation.
