Double exhibition by Floh Pasold and Mine Gümüstekin-Jaballah, showing everyday wonders of nature in a new light; the works of the two befriended artists enter into dialogue with one another.
About the museum
The regional museum is housed in the former princely forestry office on the Schlossberg, built in 1715. The two-story building, with a slate hipped roof and ochre paint, served as a forestry office in the 18th century and later for a long time as a residence. Since the mid-1980s it has housed the municipal regional museum.
Across two floors and two rooms in the outbuilding on the museum courtyard, the collection tells the story of the town, its crafts and the former castle complex. On display are, among other things, evidence of mining and iron smelting, the cloth-making trade with a loom from 1793, the development of the spa town, printing and clockmaking, middle-class domestic culture from Classicism and Biedermeier, a pharmacy area and a hunting room. In the outbuilding a large collection shows the art of locksmithing.
The museum includes the Alter Turm (Old Tower), one of the four watchtowers of the medieval castle complex from the 12th/13th century. It was converted into a lookout tower; halfway up, a model and information panels explain castle construction and medieval life, complemented by a diorama of the Lobenstein market square around 1782.
