About the museum
The experience exhibition "The Story of Berlin" opened in 1999 in the Kudamm-Karree on the Kurfürstendamm. In 21 walk-through theme rooms, it traced the history of Berlin from its first documented mention in 1237 to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
A special feature was a tour through the nuclear fallout shelter beneath the Kudamm-Karree, built in the 1970s and designed to supply just under 3,600 people. Because of renovation work at the Kudamm-Karree, the exhibition is closed. A new exhibition on Berlin city history is to open at the same location, in the building "Fürst"; no opening date has been set yet.
