About the museum
The museum is housed in the Schafferhof, a three-sided farmstead built around 1800 in the middle of Konnersreuth. The Panrucker family farmed it until 2003. In 2006 the Markt Konnersreuth acquired the property to set up a museum with a tourist center; in 2007 the farm was listed as an individual monument. After long planning, restoration began in 2018.
The Markt Konnersreuth is the operator. The house sees itself as an information and meeting center and, besides the museum, also houses the tourist information office and event rooms.
The permanent exhibition in the living-and-stable house is devoted to Therese Neumann ("Resl von Konnersreuth", 1898–1962), who became known far beyond the region as a mystic. Eight rooms follow the guiding idea of the "Weg" (path): from childhood, accident and healings, through the mystical phenomena and the flood of thousands of visitors, to conversions, contacts with resistance to National Socialism, daily life, local history and her legacy. Original objects from the family circle, audio and film recordings and media stations accompany the tour; a beatification process has been under way since 2005.
