Visitor center for the Solling at the entrance to Neuhaus Wildlife Park, with an interactive exhibition on habitats, forest and animals – free admission.
The painter and draughtsman Rainer Behre shows watercolours, pen-and-ink, charcoal and pencil drawings, as well as prints on wood, featuring animals, landscapes and observations of nature. He leaves the titles of the works to the visitors.
About the museum
The WildparkHaus stands at the entrance to the Neuhaus Wildlife Park in the Hochsolling near Holzminden and opened in 2013 as the Solling visitor center. In museum listings it also appears under its earlier name "Waldmuseum im Wildpark Neuhaus" (Forest Museum in Neuhaus Wildlife Park). The building is made of local wood, with a Solling oak trunk serving as a load-bearing element.
The interactive exhibition presents the special habitats of the Solling with their animals and plants, as well as the forest ecosystem. Under one roof, the Neuhaus Wildlife Park, the Hochsolling tourist information, the Solling-Vogler Nature Park and the Weserbergland Forest Education Center also work together; the house is operated by the Niedersächsische Landesforsten (Lower Saxony State Forests). The visit to the wildlife park, which has its own admission fee, also begins here.
