About the museum
The Heimat- und Schifffahrtsmuseum (local history and shipping museum) in Heinsen on the Weser is run by the Heimat- und Kulturverein Heinsen e. V. It presents evidence of local history and gives a compact insight into the development of the village in the district of Holzminden.
One focus is on the agricultural and craft livelihoods of the village. A second focus is on shipping on the Weser: the exhibition covers the ferry, timber rafting and trade on the river, as well as traditional shipbuilding in the region, including with models.
The clear thematic structure into village history, Weser shipping and shipbuilding makes the small house accessible to first-time visitors as well as to experts on regional history.
