About the museum
The WUSEUM is the club museum of SV Werder Bremen and is located in the north stand of the Weserstadion in the Bremen district of Östliche Vorstadt. The club, founded in 1899 as "Fußball-Verein Werder Bremen," first showed a selection of its collection in 1999, for its 100th anniversary, in a special exhibition at the Focke-Museum.
The museum opened on December 1, 2004, when the north stand was extended with a new outer structure. Over about 350 square meters, a chronological passage of display cases leads through the club's history up to the present day. On view are, among other things, the championship trophy (Meisterschale) and the DFB-Pokal, original jerseys of Horst-Dieter Höttges and Diego Maradona, and quirky items such as the cable sleeve (Muffe) that cut the stadium's power in 2004/05, or the famous paper ball.
A cinema corner and several multimedia stations with audio and video clips bring big matches and triumphs back to life, and a trivia quiz challenges fans. The club archive holds far more objects than can be shown at one time; depending on the occasion, individual pieces are highlighted.
