About the museum
The Kostas Kotsanas Museum of Ancient Greek Technology in Katakolo presents, through reconstructions of inventions, a lesser-known side of ancient Greek civilisation that links past and present in the fields of science and technology. The exhibits, which are the result of more than 30 years of research, are working constructions and, for the most part, can be used by visitors.
The inventions belong to fields such as medicine, automation, hydraulics, shipbuilding and telecommunications. They are presented with interactive guided tours and audiovisual material in Greek and English.
The museum is housed in Katakolo, in the residence of the Latsis family, and by appointment it organises guided tours, educational programmes and activities. Individualised detailed guides to the exhibits are available to the public in six languages.
