About the museum
The house museum occupies the second-floor apartment of a public housing block in the Brancaccio district, where Father Pino Puglisi lived. He was the priest killed on 15 September 1993 in front of the building and later beatified. The Centro di Accoglienza Padre Nostro, together with the Fondazione Giovanni Paolo II, returned the house to the city around 2014.
The rooms have remained almost as he left them: living room, study, kitchen with the “libro dei pensieri” (book of thoughts) for visitors, bathroom and bedroom. They hold books (about 1,300 volumes from his original library, 330 of them in the house), liturgical vestments, a hand-cranked gramophone, the cobbler’s bench, the study chair and the watch he wore on the day of the murder.
Visits are led by volunteer guides, including children, operators and volunteers from the centre. The apartment is reached by climbing two flights of stairs.
