About the museum
Villa Vertua Masolo is an Art Nouveau (Liberty) villa built in the 1920s. The municipality of Nova Milanese bought it together with its park in 1995 and carried out a first restoration in 1998, already designed to house a museum. After a further project, supported by a contribution from Fondazione Cariplo, it reopened to the public on 21 April 2024 as the seat of the city's civic art collection.
On the first floor is the permanent display: the works that won the Bugatti-Segantini and Vittorio Viviani prizes, the paintings and drawings donated in 1978 by the Chiarist painter Vittorio Viviani (around 10 paintings and 54 drawings), and the Collezione permanente delle Arti del fuoco.
The latter, established in 1999 with the Premio Arti del fuoco, brings together about 350 works by contemporary artists from over twenty countries, with painting and sculpture on porcelain, ceramics, terracotta, glass and enamels.
