About the museum
The collection began in 2004 as the “Collezione diocesana d’Arte religiosa contemporanea DiART” and was first housed on the top two floors of the Trapani diocesan seminary. In 2012 the museum moved to the former church-convent of San Rocco, in the historic centre of the city, and the new space was officially opened in 2014.
The collection comprises about two hundred works by around one hundred and thirty artists from twenty-two countries. The rooms display works by some twenty international artists, including Carla Accardi, Alberto Gianquinto, Turi Simeti, Adrian Paci, Minjung Kim and Jung Uei Jung.
The complex includes the Oratorio di San Rocco and the Cappella del Cristo Danzante (Chapel of the Dancing Christ), as well as exhibition spaces such as the CasaroccoGallery. Every year, at the end of August, the museum hosts the Festa di San Rocco, with events and cultural initiatives; the website also offers a virtual tour of the rooms.
