About the museum
The museum opened in 1999 and since 2009 has been housed in its present seat, the Centro Culturale Aldo Rossi in Borgoricco, run by the Municipality. It collects finds from the centuriated territory north of Padua, where the regular grid of Roman-era fields can still be recognised in the layout of roads and canals.
The route begins with some prehistoric and protohistoric finds, such as flint tools and an axe and an arrowhead from the Bronze Age. The first room illustrates the instruments of land surveyors, units of measurement and a tactile model. The second is dedicated to agriculture and livestock, with a Roman horse burial and the base of a well built with wooden rings. The third room tells of domestic life with a reconstruction of a loom and a kitchen. The fourth covers economic activities, from brick production to trade, with weighing scales, amphorae and a collection of coins left by General Angelo Visentin.
There are also materials from the 6th century AD onwards, including a bronze sabre dating from 1843.
