About the museum
The Museo della Civiltà Contadina di Fratticciola is located in the hamlet of the same name in the municipality of Cortona and is part of the ecomuseum trail promoted by the municipal administration. The building, created with contributions from the Comune and from the community of Fratticciola, which has for years organised the festival of the farm cart, is partly used as a shed for historic carts and partly for the activities of the ecomuseum.
The display is devoted to everyday life in the countryside up to the 1960s and aims to safeguard the cultural, ethnographic and historical heritage of the farming world of the Valdichiana. Most of the material comes from the local association “Il Carro”, which collected tools and implements in the area.
The thematic sections and reconstructions recreate past farming customs and work. The objects on display include ploughs, carts, hoes, jugs and other implements of farming life.
