About the museum

The museum collects evidence of the rural world of the Varese Prealps and is named after the Angelo Piccinelli family. The municipality of Brinzio presents it as a museum with part of its display outdoors, open to the public on set days.

The route is divided into eleven sections on two floors. On the ground floor are the activities that took place outdoors: woodland resources, the cowshed, work on the land, building, silkworm rearing and beekeeping. On the first floor, everyday and domestic life is recreated: the kitchen, spinning and weaving, and the crafts of the blacksmith, the carpenter and the shoemaker.

The selected objects show a single cultural fabric, that of the pre-Alpine rural world, which over the centuries was influenced both by the mountain areas and by the plains, becoming a transition area with its own character.
