About the museum
The museum, presented as a “crossroads of transhumance and creativity”, documents the pastoral, agricultural and devotional history of the area and its relationship with the artists who have long visited Cervara di Roma. It was created by the municipality in collaboration with the Province of Rome, based on a study by Franca Fedeli Bernardini. Collecting of objects has continued since January 2002.
The museum occupies rooms beneath the collegiate church, spread over two floors: the “little stable of the archpriest's donkey” and the old granary of the curia, which has original graffiti on its walls. On display are ex-votos, devotional objects, sacred vestments, liturgical books, processional items, reliquaries, traditional costumes of the village and tools of farm work, shepherding and itinerant trades.
