About the museum
The museum is based in Monselice, in a large building dating from the 1950s. The collection consists mainly of steam engines, both stationary and self-propelled, and of other machines from the period between the late 19th and the early 20th century.
These machines were used for agricultural mechanisation and related work, such as the reclamation of marshy land. The collection grew out of the traction engines that the Centanin family used to cultivate and improve their land in the Euganean area; over time, further examples from various sources were added, reaching its present size.
The museum is one of the local museums promoted by the Province of Padua and is run by the cooperative company La Fucina delle Scienze.
