About the museum
The museum is housed in the former schools of Fontanelle, a hamlet of Roccabianca and the birthplace of the writer Giovannino Guareschi, creator of Don Camillo and Peppone. Through the biographies of two figures linked to Fontanelle, Guareschi himself and Giovanni Faraboli, founder of the reformist cooperative movement, it tells the historical and social story of the Bassa Parmense from the late 19th century to the 1960s.
The route, rich in evocative solutions, uses visual and sound documentation drawn from the archives of the Guareschi heirs, the cooperative movement and the municipal historical archive. In the corridors and classrooms of the former school, personal memories, voices, documents, literary texts and craft objects come together. The route retraces late 19th-century social struggles, the origins of the agri-food industry, the first cooperative experiments and working conditions in the countryside.
According to the web page of the Roccabianca municipality (updated in September 2024), the museum is currently closed because the premises are unsafe.
