About the museum
The Museo regionale interdisciplinare di Caltanissetta holds most of the finds from the archaeological sites of the Caltanissetta area, in particular Gibil Gabib, Vassallaggi and Sabucina. The building, designed by the architect Franco Minissi, opened on 15 June 2006, after the collections were moved from the old civic museum.
Since 2023 the museum has been temporarily closed to the public for maintenance works; a report from September 2025 confirms that the closure is still ongoing, with no reopening date.
