About the museum
The museum complex is located in the east wing of the Colonia di Druogno, in the Val Vigezzo, over about 2,500 square metres. The venue describes itself as one of the largest thematic museums in Piedmont. The building was part of the Colonia montana, a mountain holiday camp built in the Fascist era and left abandoned for decades.
The UniversiCà Foundation received the east wing on loan and restored it thanks to the Italian-Swiss Interreg 2007–2013 project “TRA.ME.VI.VE.”, carried out with the Museo di Sonogno in Switzerland. A place created for holidays and to spread the dominant ideology has thus become a cultural space.
The route combines two offerings: the multimedia Museo vivo, devoted to the uses, customs and traditions of the valley, and the exhibition “Geo d'Etica”, on geography and the craft of the cartographer. Animated guided tours are also offered in summer.
