About the museum
The museum is housed in a three-storey Walser house dating from 1628, in the Pedemonte hamlet of Alagna Valsesia. The Walser, a people of German origin, settled in the Valsesia in the Middle Ages, between the 13th and 14th centuries.
The display brings together furniture, tools, clothing, household objects and testimonies of daily life, and shows the construction system of the typical Walser house of Alagna. The museum is part of the Ecomuseo della Valsesia, established by the Piedmont Region in 1999, with sites spread across the valley.
