About the museum

Palazzo Baldeschi al Corso stands on Corso Vannucci in the heart of Perugia. It is a 16th-century building named after the noble Baldeschi family. The Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia bought it on 28 November 2002 and installed part of its art collections there; the other part is kept in the nearby Palazzo Graziani.

The display presents over two hundred works by artists active in Umbria between the 15th and the 20th century, arranged by theme and regional school: the Perugian school with Perugino and Pinturicchio, the Foligno school with Niccolò di Liberatore, known as l’Alunno, as well as Matteo da Gualdo, Luca Signorelli and Nicola di Ulisse da Siena. One room is devoted to landscape painting of the 17th and 18th centuries, another to the large Mannerist altarpieces by Giovanni Baglione, Federico Zuccari and Cristoforo Roncalli, known as Il Pomarancio.

A monographic section presents Giovanni Domenico Cerrini, known as Cavalier Perugino, and one room holds works on Franciscan themes, including a small panel attributed to Guercino. The palazzo also houses the Alessandro Marabottini collection, with over seven hundred paintings, sculptures, drawings and decorative arts.
