About the museum
The Zandvoorts Museum sees itself as the heritage and art museum of this coastal town. It manages the collection of the municipality of Zandvoort, with more than 38,000 objects, and presents it in exhibitions that are always linked to the collection and to historical and present-day stories. As a network museum, it works together with other museums, artists and partners in the Amsterdam region.
The permanent exhibition "The Life of Memories" tells how the fishing village became a popular seaside resort, and sheds light on maritime history, village life and the growth of tourism. The film "Panorama Zandvoort – The timeless sea" complements this story. In addition, there are several changing exhibitions as well as guided tours, lectures and workshops.
The museum has left its former location on Swaluëstraat and is now in the center on Louis Davidsstraat, opposite the bus station. The house has a freely accessible museum café, which is also used as a workspace, and a shop with local products. The central theme is memory: residents and visitors are to connect with the stories of the past, the present and the future.
