Vistnestunet

About the museum

Vistnestunet is a farm museum in Randaberg and part of Jærmuseet. The site gives a picture of the farm environment on Jæren at the end of the 1800s and is regarded as the best-preserved farm environment from this period in Randaberg.

The farmyard is a complete Jæren farmyard consisting of a jærhus (Jæren house), a grid-built barn (løe), an eldhus (kitchen house) and a wind-powered machine (vindmaskin), plus the surrounding outfields. The buildings show how a farm on Jæren was built and run in the 1800s.

Randaberg municipality and Jærmuseet cooperate on activity days at Vistnestunet throughout the year. On these days the farmyard is open to everyone. Otherwise the site is open to school classes and groups by arrangement.
