About the museum
The Centrum Nauki i Zmysłów WOMAI has operated in Kraków since October 2019. The name is an abbreviation of “World of My All Inspirations” (the world of all my inspirations). Its initiators are Agnieszka Kulik and Stuart Hall, who wanted to change the approach to education and raise social awareness of people with disabilities.
The team has grown from five people to more than twenty, half of whom are blind or partially sighted. The centre has been repeatedly awarded, including in the competitions “Icebreakers” (Lodołamacze), “Kraków without Barriers” (Kraków bez Barier) and “A Place Friendly to Families with Children” (Miejsce Przyjazne Rodzinom z Dziećmi).
The offer includes two permanent paths: “Towards the Light” (W stronę światła), an interactive exhibition on physics, chemistry and illusions, and “Towards the Darkness” (W stronę ciemności), in which participants get to know the world of blind people in total darkness, with a blind guide. They are complemented by science show experiments, sensory workshops and classes for schools and companies. Visits are always guided, in small groups.
