About the museum
The Mury Obronne (City Walls) are a preserved fragment of Kraków’s medieval fortifications, most of which were dismantled at the beginning of the 19th century. The section on ul. Pijarska, located in the Planty park near the Barbakan and the Florian Gate, extends over several levels and is open to visitors as a branch of the Kraków Museum.
The route leads through the historic interiors of the walls, connected by wooden stairs, and shows the history of the city’s defence. The visit can be combined with the nearby Barbakan. The two sites form a joint guided offer, and together with the Rynek Podziemny and the Wieża Ratuszowa they are part of the “Kraków Średniowieczny” route. The branch is open seasonally, from 8 April to 30 October.
